Karl graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1960. Although semi-retired, he remains in active private practice today with two younger partners. Along with his private practice, Karl has been on the part-time faculty at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry for 36 years. An active participant in dental organizations, Karl has been President of the Blue Grass Dental Society, Kentucky Society of Dentistry for Children, and the Kentucky Dental Association.

He held many other positions including the American Dental Association’s Board of Trustees and Chairman of the American Dental Association’s Council on Ethics, By-Laws and Judicial Affairs. In 1996, Karl was a candidate for American Dental Association President-Elect. He is past Chairman of the Kentucky Section of the American College of Dentists, as well as a former member of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Dental Health Coalition, a non-profit coalition promoting oral health education and access. Karl also served as Co-Chairman of the Clinical Dental Practice and Management section of the American Dental Association’s Future of Dentistry Report 2002.

Presently, Karl is the Kentucky Section Chairman of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and chairman of  Lexington Rotary Club International Service Committee. From 1998-2012, he was co-director for the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry fourth year Dental Practice Management Course. 


Steve grew up in Lexington and graduated from Tates Creek High School in l972. He went on to attend the University of Kentucky, graduating in 1976 with a BBA degree. He graduated in 1981, with a DMD degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry

Steve was a part-time faculty member at the U.K. College of Dentistry from 1981 to 1993 in the Department of Removable Prosthodontics. From 1981 to present, he is a volunteer faculty member at the College of Dentistry. In 1989, Steve completed a five year Postdoctoral Program in Comprehensive Dentistry. He has attended five Continuums at the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in Key Biscayne, Florida. He has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education courses with emphasis on restoration dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, crown and bridge reconstruction, occlusion and temporomandibular disorders (TMJ).

Steve is a member of the American Dental Association, the Kentucky Dental Association, and the Blue Grass Dental Society. He and his wife, Alicia, have three children, Laura Beth, Jason and Ben.


Billy grew up in the southeastern area of the state, graduating from Prestonsburg High School. After deciding coal mining was not the career of choice, he attended Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky to complete his undergraduate studies. Billy graduated from the University of Kentucky, College of Dentistry in 1989. He lives in the Lexington area with his wife, Lois, and stepdaughter, Aly.

He is active in the Blue Grass Dental Society, having served as chairman of various committees, the Kentucky Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Billy has also worked with Special Olympics, the Kentucky Dental Health Coalition, Kentucky State Fair and the Lexington Children Museum performing oral screenings for children. Billy has attended seven Continuums at the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in Key Biscayne, Florida. He is a member of the Spear Study Club and a Faculty Club member of Spear Education.
